Uphold my Heart, Oh! Lord

isaiah 41 10

Today’s Word

Uphold

To support against an opponent

Today’s Verse

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God!

I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right-hand

He Fights for Us

God is going to help us against our opponents. There is no need to be afraid. If we lack strength to fight our battles, we must reach out to God. He will provide us with all the strength we need. He goes ahead of our troubles and resolves them for us. He knows how much we can or cannot handle. He takes care of the excess.

The Catch

However, we must be willing to let Him be a part of our lives. We must trust Him to be in control. If we feel we can do it alone, He will not intervene. He will let us go and fight our own battles. Problem is we can be stubborn. We may think we can handle something without His help. How much easier to resolve our situation can be when He leads the way!

Surrender

What we must do is fully surrender to God, for he will go ahead of us and fight for us. He is the Captain of our conquest. For, if we surrender our will to God, we will never need to surrender unto our enemies, problems, turmoil, heartaches, nor burdens. He will triumph and intercede in our behalf.

So, we need not be afraid, we must give it all to God. Let Him bring us to victory.

February 20 – Scriptures of the Day

romans 8 3

Scriptures for the Day

Romans 8 1:11

1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For the law of the life-giving Spirit inChrist Jesus has set you  free from the law of sin and death.

3 For God achieved what the law could not do because  it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

4 so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by  the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

6 For the outlook  of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,

7 because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.

8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 You, however, are not in  the flesh butin the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.

10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness.

11 Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raisedChrist   from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.

Prayer for the Day

I thank you, Lord, for dying for my sins so that my flesh may die each day and allow  your Spirit to uphold in me, so that I may claim victory over sin.

Can You Hear My Heart?

psalm 19 14

Do you ever sit across someone, listen to them speak, and all you hear is their heart pouring out?How beautiful it is. On the same token, Do you ever sit across someone, listen to them speak, and all you hear is me, me, me? How different can words from a person sound. Some are sincere, while others are so fake. Some touch our hearts, others hurt our ears.

Do people realize how selfish they can be? They invite you for a cup of coffee and they talk about themselves the whole time. They do not take a breath. They just keep going on and on. Do they even care about the person sitting across from them? Hmm.

Nevertheless, there are those that speak and a melody is heard through their words. Their words are inspiring, encouraging, and sincere. They stop, ask how we are doing, and take a turn listening.

I wonder what makes a person either way. I believe is humbleness, caring, and compassion. These are character traits that beautify a person inside and outside. Those that lack them tend to be selfish, self-absorbed, uncaring, they boast, and lack social understanding of others.

My goal is to be humble, caring, compassionate for the world, giving, and most of all, understanding. I want to carry those things in my heart and in my soul. I want to be the person that people can believe in my words, and trust my understanding of theirs.

As I go through life, I hope I can leave a positive imprint, a love that lasts ages, and memories worth remembering.

A Tear in My Heart – A Personal View

Crying heart

Psalms 126:5

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

I was driving my daughter to work this morning, and realized that our past, not a beautiful one, has left a tear in my heart. A reminder that no matter how much I try to forget about it, little things pop up now and then that brings it front and center. We have been to hell and back, so goes the saying. However, we are survivors.

We are survivors in a cruel world where innocence is taken away, one day at a time. I remember being young, filled with hope, and very, very naive. I grew up in a home with a father so wonderful, I thought everyone was the same.

The reality hit me, literally, in the face. I became the punching bag, the rage taker, the abuse victim. I remember thinking that I would not live to see another day. Yet, here I am.

The experiences I suffered have left a tear in my heart, in my soul, and my mind. It is but a gentle reminder that I have come a long way. That no matter how dark it is, there is a bit of light as the road continues. That when all is silence, a beautiful melody will surface. When my voice feels silent, my words will take over and express how I feel. That when I write how I feel, someone will read and relate.

All in all, it is that tear that has inspired me to go forward, continue reaching for the sky, and let my voice be heard. Not for me, but for the world. Maybe, someone needed to hear it today
