Uphold my Heart, Oh! Lord

isaiah 41 10

Today’s Word

Uphold

To support against an opponent

Today’s Verse

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God!

I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right-hand

He Fights for Us

God is going to help us against our opponents. There is no need to be afraid. If we lack strength to fight our battles, we must reach out to God. He will provide us with all the strength we need. He goes ahead of our troubles and resolves them for us. He knows how much we can or cannot handle. He takes care of the excess.

The Catch

However, we must be willing to let Him be a part of our lives. We must trust Him to be in control. If we feel we can do it alone, He will not intervene. He will let us go and fight our own battles. Problem is we can be stubborn. We may think we can handle something without His help. How much easier to resolve our situation can be when He leads the way!

Surrender

What we must do is fully surrender to God, for he will go ahead of us and fight for us. He is the Captain of our conquest. For, if we surrender our will to God, we will never need to surrender unto our enemies, problems, turmoil, heartaches, nor burdens. He will triumph and intercede in our behalf.

So, we need not be afraid, we must give it all to God. Let Him bring us to victory.

God’s Delight

psalm 149 4

Today’s Word

Delight

Joy: to rejoice: to feel cheerfulness.

Today’s Verse

Psalm 149:4

For the Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation.

Oh! To have a humble heart, a humble mind, and a humble demeanor gets rewarded with eternal salvation. God celebrates and takes joy in this. The highest reward a Christian can receive is the crown of salvation. A crown that gives 24-hour access to God. It removes the scales that covered our eyes and ears. It allows us to see the Kingdom of God, hear God’s Word, and understand the mystery of salvation.

“Father in Heaven, thank you for finding me worthy to wear the crown of salvation. Thank you for letting me be a part of your Kingdom. Thank you for revealing the mystery of salvation to me. “

Sustain Me by Your Word

Psalm 119 28

Today’s Word

Sustain

To provide what is needed for (something or someone) to exist, continue, etc.

Today’s Verse

 Psalm 119: 28

I collapse from grief. Sustain me by your word!

Call out to Heaven

Are you feeling helpless, alone, abandoned, or sad? Are you grieving, crying, or hurting? Do you have no one to turn to? Are you weak in spirit, or do you feel broken? You are not alone. That’s right. Call out to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Let them be your comfort, the ears that listen, the arms that comfort, the guidance you need, the love you lack, the counselor, and the strength you lack. Let God provide you with whatever your need is in order to continue living with meaning.

Seek God

Don’t collapse. Let God sustain you. Let his Word speak to you in the ways that you need. Open a Bible and read, lift your eyes to God, raise your arms to Heaven, pray to Jesus, uphold your heart to the Holy Spirit. Seek comfort in his love, understanding, and acceptance. Speak to Him. Let your request be known. Give him your cares and worries. Let him carry you through.

Abide with Him

Once you call out to Heaven and seek Him, enjoy abiding with Him. He will be in your midst. He will deliver you. He will hold you, comfort you, and provide you an understanding of your situation. He will pave a way for you to see the end of your heartache. He will be your hope. Best of all, He will do it lovingly.

Pray to Him

“Father in Heaven, I ask that you be with me today, abide with me, provide me comfort. Thank you for always listening and being here for me.”

Revelation of His Will

ephesians 1 17

Today’s Word

Revelation

God’s disclosure of Himself and His will to His creatures.

Today’s Verse

Ephesians 1:17

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,  may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him.

After we are saved, we seek knowledge. We do so by reading the Bible and learning as much as we can about our salvation, our Lord Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit. In the process of learning and through our salvation, the Holy Spirit resides in us and reveals to us the mysteries of God.

We learn of God’s will to us, of wisdom and power that lay within his Word, and we grow in knowledge of the Kingdom of God. All learning leads us closer to his will and guides us to lead a life of godliness. We strive for closeness to God and daily comfort of our heartaches. We seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to gently tug at us and convict us when we err. We seek approval when we do right.

God’s revelation of his will opens our eyes to a heavenly realm and unimaginable possibilities. We now have our eyes opened as the scales of our eyes are removed and our blinders fall. How awesome it is to partake in his revelation!

If you do not know Jesus, seek Him. Allow his wondrous revelation to be instilled in your heart, mind, and soul.

God is Available 24/7

Jeremiah 29:12-14

When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers.
When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul,
I will make myself available to you,’ says the Lord.

Today, we want everything to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Well, did you know that God is available at every second of the day. Yes, he is. We can reach out to God anytime and any day. No matter what time of the day, He is available to hear us. There are times our families need someone to listen to them. We may be busy. However, if we have taught them about God and the Bible, then we can delegate our listening to Him.

No matter what it is, God listens to us. He listens to our heartaches, our accomplishments and triumphs, and all of our needs. He knows how to listen, answer, and comfort us.

He listens to our Heartaches

If you don’t have anyone to listen to your heartaches, take them to God. He has his doors open of communication at all times of the day. His door never closes for business. Through his door are his ears, waiting patiently to listen to us. He wants us to communicate to Him what our heartaches are. He wants to provide an answer, a solution, and comfort when needed.

Tell Him what is ailing you. Let Him know you want his presence, His knowledge, and His wisdom. Let Him intervene and help you get through. Let Him hold your hand, or let him wrap his arms around you. Whatever it is, He will know how to make it better.

He listens to our Triumphs

Have you accomplished something phenomenal but have no one to share it with, then share it with God. Let him know how well you did, how hard you worked at it, and what a great outcome you had. Let him rejoice with you.

Tell Him everything you did to get to that point. Tell Him every last detail you like to share. He doesn’t get bored. Actually, He is interested in you. Let Him smile with you. Let Him clap for you.

He listens to our Needs

Are you in need of help, financially, emotionally, or physically? It’s ok to let God know. He has the resources to help you with your struggles. Ask Him to help fulfill your need. Ask Him to provide for you, to give you comfort, or to guide your Doctors. It doesn’t matter what the need is, converse with Him.

Tell him you need help with your finances. Ask Him to help you with new sources of income, managing your spending, or getting a new and better job. Just ask him.

Are you going through an emotional turmoil? Let him know exactly what it is. Do not omit any details. Tell him the truth about the whole ordeal. He will not judge you, nor forsake you. He will simply listen and answer your requests. Sometimes subtlety, others obviously. Either way he will answer.

If you feel alone, then reach out to God. Let him walk with you and give you companionship. He is always available.

Spiritual Understanding: Compassion Towards Others

Today’s Word

 Understanding

A disposition to appreciate or share the feelings and thoughts of others; sympathy:

Characterized by or having good sense or compassion

Today’s Verse

 Job 32

8 But it is a spirit in people, the breath of the Almighty, that makes them understand.

I remember at times, thinking, “I don’t feel sorry for them. They got what they deserved.” However, who am I to judge a person? I may not have all the facts. Even if I did, I am not to judge others. I am to have compassion, instead. Our flesh is of man’s thoughts and teachings. However, our spirit is of God’s thoughts and teachings. To understand the difference we must have our heart listen to God’s guidance.

 Carnal Understanding

From the day we are born, until the day we die, we live in a world filled with selfish thoughts. Our world thrives on self-pleasing and self-preservation. If anyone hurts us, we, naturally, want to hurt them back, or at least we want them to have a piece of our mind. We go through life with the understanding that we are not to be treated harshly nor should we be disrespected.

If anyone does us wrong, we want to get back at them, we want to get things straight, we want to resolve it. However, we are limited, in our resolve, by our carnal understanding of what is fair.

 Spiritual Understanding

Whereas in carnal understanding we depend on our own thoughts, in spiritual understanding we rely on God’s thoughts. He speaks to our hearts through the Holy Spirit within us and helps us discern. It is the spiritual understanding in each of us that allows us to show compassion instead of despise, love instead of hatred, kindness instead of meanness.

We no longer rely on our own actions of righteousness, but on God’s expertise in the matter. He intervenes with our human nature and allows his spirit to prevail.

For it is his spirit in us, his breath of understanding, that should think and act for us.

Let our fleshly understanding die each day, so that our spiritual understanding may live forth.

Let us be a godly example filled with love, compassion, and kindness towards others, so thatChrist in us will show outwardly and win others to join in the family of believers.

Let not our carnal understanding be a stumbling block to those that may be wavering in faith.

The Bible, a book inspired by God in order to convey to us His message of salvation, His message of love, and His message of inspiration for our lives. As we read it, we see His words written, His message explained, and His love for us.

Message of Salvation

How beautiful is the word of God! As we read it and learn from it, we grow in wisdom, grace, and faith. All are gifts from God. They are gifts that were paid by the sacrifice of his only son, Jesus Christ. He died for all of us so that we could enjoy eternal salvation. All we have to do is believe that Jesus died, was buried, resurrected, and now sits at the right hand of God.

God’s Message

Not only must we believe, but also we must read His Word, the Bible, a book with many authors who, by the inspiration of God, wrote a guide for us to learn, study, and follow. God used each author to convey His magnificence, love, hope, forgiveness, and acceptance.

Inspired Application

As we read the Bible, we are amazed at its application to our daily lives. No matter what we need, we can reach to it and find words of wisdom. If we are having a bad day, we can find words of encouragement. If we are weary with our troubles, we can find peace. If we are grieving, we can find understanding.

Reach to your Bible, today.

Let God speak to your heart.

Let God inspire you.

Wisdom: Slow to Anger

Today’s Word

 Wisdom

A disposition to find the truth.

Judgment as to what actions to pursue and deliver the correct outcome.

Requires control of our emotional reactions so that reason prevails.

Today’s Verse

 Proverbs 19

11 A person’s wisdom makes him slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense

As we grow in the knowledge of the Word of God, we acquire spiritual wisdom. It guides us in making good decisions. It helps us with reason and control of our emotional reactions. It allows us to seek the truth in all we see and do.

Wisdom as a Guide

The study of the Bible helps us gain knowledge and understanding of God’s standards for our daily living. It is a guide to Christians as to what is right or wrong, and as to what is expected to be our reaction to all that we encounter. It is a guide to help us control our emotions so we do not exercise outbursts of anger or wrong judgment.

Wisdom as Reason

As we grow in knowledge, we learn to use reason. We learn to make decisions with our spiritual heart, which is guided by God’s word. By using our spiritual knowledge, we learn to reason with our emotions. We allow the Holy Spirit to keeps us calm, think, evaluate, and contain our anger. We use reason as to not offend others, yet glorify God.

Wisdom as Truth

Our pursuit for the truth is led by our Christian thirst for knowledge. We seek justice, truth, compassion, love, and acceptance. Our quest for the truth drives us to use reasoning and knowledge, in order to discern right from wrong, good from bad, holy from unholy, and godly from ungodly. We set all judgment aside until we have examined all the facts and found the truth.

Truth and Mercy in Our Spiritual Heart

Today’s Word

 Mercy

Kind or forgiving treatment of someone who could be treated harshly

Kindness or help that is given to people who are in a very bad or desperate situation

Today’s Verse

Proverbs 3

Do not let truth and mercy leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

The best asset that can be used to win others to salvation is our daily Christian example. The manner in which we conduct ourselves can leave an imprint, whether positive or negative, on those that surround us. On a day-to-day basis, we must be truthful in our words and actions and we must show mercy unto others. Proverbs 3 says to bind truth and mercy around our neck and write them on our hearts.

Be Truthful

We must use our words carefully each day, so as not to offend others. I have always understood that my rights end where others begin. What do I mean by that? I mean that I must choose to respect others, treat them with kindness, and show them a true heart. I must choose to not deceive, hurt, nor use harsh words against them.

Show Mercy

Many persons come along our path throughout our lifetime. Some are more or less deserving of our kindness than others, or so I thought. However, today’s verse says to not let truth and mercy leave us. Hmm. In other words, no matter whether I think they are more or less deserving, I must not judge and show them mercy equally.

Imagine, I must be truthful. I must show mercy to all.

What about my human side that does not want to do that?

Then, it must be entrusted to God. He must be in control of our human heart so that we may speak and act with our spiritual one.

Love In Our Hearts

Ever said aloud, “I hate ……” then felt guilty for even saying it. I have. Just saying the word fills me with guilt, shame, and remorse. How can I, blatantly, say that word, yet profess to love God? Exactly!!! Once we have the love of God in our hearts, it is hard to be mean, say hateful words, or be disgruntled. On the other hand, maybe, we can. However, with God’s love, guidance of the Holy Spirit, and a humble heart, the correction of our actions it is immediate.

God’s Love

God’s love resides in each of us who believe in him, who trust him, who seek him. Within us are his teachings that help us lead a better life and strive to be an example to others.

1 John 4

8 The person who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 Corinthians 16

14 Everything you do should be done in love.

Guidance of the Holy Spirit

As we go through life, the Holy Spirit guides us. It teaches us to love, to do right by others, and to follow God’s example.

2 Corinthians 6

6 by purity, by knowledge, by patience, by benevolence, by the Holy Spirit, by genuine

love

Galatians 5

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.

26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.

Humble Heart

As God’s love resides within us and his Holy Spirit guides us, our hearts become humble, tender, and loving. We allow it to love all that surround us. A humble heart cannot hate. It cannot, intentionally, hurt others. If we do, we are, immediately, reminded of what we have done. We do not feel pride by demeaning others, or stepping over them. On the contrary, we place ourselves at their mercy.

Psalm 25

9 May he show the humble what is right! May he teach the humble his way!

Ezekiel 11

19 I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within them; I will remove the hearts of stone from their bodies and I will give them tender hearts.
